About The PodBod

Welcome to The PodBod.

The PodBod grew out of a small family hobby and a big love for isopods and invertebrates of all kinds. What started with a few curious pods quickly turned into a passion for learning, caring, and creating the best possible environments for these incredible little creatures.

This website is both an information hub and a shop. Here, you’ll find advice and guidance on keeping isopods, along with carefully chosen foods, starter sets, and essentials to help your pods (and other inverts) thrive. We also offer a small selection of isopods bred by us, raised with care and experience in the same conditions we recommend.

The PodBod is very much a family business, and it’s something we’re growing slowly and thoughtfully over time. Every order helps support our dream of working together as a family, doing what we love, and continuing to expand what we can offer — from helpful resources to home-bred isopods and new invertebrate supplies.

Thank you for supporting our small business, for sharing our passion for isopods, and for being part of The PodBod’s journey.

I’ve been fascinated by invertebrates, arachnids and bugs of all kinds for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is watching harvest spiders “dancing” on the ceiling of my bedroom when I was just a toddler. Whether it was collecting snails or ants in the garden, identifying butterflies and moths, or going on bug hunts with my best friend, insects have been a huge part of my life from the very beginning.

Over the years, I’ve rescued many a bug that was hungry, injured, or had simply wandered into a dangerous place.

My love for these creatures was reignited when my husband, our daughter and I visited a bug zoo called The Bug Parc shortly after it opened. As a family, we began caring for golden snails, dairy cow isopods and cockroaches. Not long after, we adopted praying mantises and more isopods… then even more isopods.

Eventually, I fulfilled a lifelong dream and brought home my very first jumping spiders and tarantula. Today, I keep almost 40 tarantulas and specialise in slings (spiderlings). I’m endlessly fascinated by watching them hunt, grow and develop, and I’ve begun considering breeding some of my adult species.

I’m the dreamer of the family — always striving for more, and longing to work together doing what we love. My hope is to share our knowledge, passion and appreciation for these incredible creatures with the world.

Ari

Hi, my name is Ari but you will probably see me around as Erika. I'm an aspiring graphic designer with big plans for the future.

Growing up I've always been very into art and how designs are made and put together, so I'm happy to finally put that practise to work.

Do you ever see a leaflet in with a product, a social media post about the shop or even The PodBod logo and wondered 'who made that?' Well, that would proudly be me!

I hope you enjoy my own personal twists I put into all these designs and even on products currently in our shop as well as others that are coming soon.

Antony

I’m Antony, by day a humble IT worker, but when I take my glasses off I become the PodBod himself.

I’ve always had pets, and always loved the weird and exotic.
For a while now that’s taken the form of Isopods and Praying Mantises, watching them and their antics never gets old.

While my wife and daughter do the proper business stuff I focus on the beastie keeping and being the knowledge base of our team.
