Beetles
What to look for

It is said there are more species of beetle than any other terrestrial animal. They all have six legs, hard exoskeletons, and are generally fast moving.

Why and how they turn up

These will come in with untreated wet bark or leaves, or if you make substrate using untreated soil from your garden.

Danger level

This varies, some are predatory and capable of eating isopods, some only mancae. Some will have no interest in isopods as a food source. It is best to presume they are a risk.

Prevention

Freezing wood, leaves, and substrate can minimise them however the only way to 100% prevent them is to never use anything natural in your enclosure which isn't a viable option.

How to treat them

Catch and release (unless you recognise them as a pest species in your area - if so catch and freeze).
